Orlando independent operators constantly fight an uphill battle trying not go out of business with attacks comming from every corner....

First it's Mears creating a monopoly in our city with the airport and buying the curbs at the hotels, then our airport simply cooperates by practically giving them free leeway at our airport with almost all the lanes operating for them, then all the independents can't pick up at any hotels unless it is pre-arranged with a client, as now Mears has most of the hotels locked up with the hotel management.........and then.......

Disney decided to create the Magical Express....designed to take people right from the airport to Disney.  This does two things for Disney......keeps people from purchasing anything outside thier property before they get there and allows them to sell more packages by including transportation.

Mears also operates this shuttle for them. Beginning to see the picture?

So folks......if you are planning to come to Orlando to start a transportation company, think again....you are not going to do well.

The market shrinks and shrinks for us, as the 500 pound Gorillas keep growing.....and on a side note.....the illustrious leaders that run our local limousine association.........continue to do nothing about it!

Independent operators are trying currently to get some new vehicle classifications listed in Orlando so that we can bring in some lower cost cars to save two ways.  One on our cost of cars and two for the customers and for the gas and our eco system.

Does Orlando, Mears, and our Vehicle for Hire want this .............no........not even our local limousine association......you have to ask yourself why...........don't you?

If you stand back, and think......you have to say, what would be the reason a group of people, any group of people would not want to provide something beneficial to another group of people?

The only answer would be.............if they had a motive not to....right?  You got it!

A new catagory other than just offering our Orlando visitors "LUXURY VEHICLES AND SHUTTLES.  We want to implement another catagory that is an intermediate vehicle.  They refuse to let us.

It would alleviate extreme overhead for vehicles for our independent operators, lower costs for customers without sacrificing comfort or safety but of course that would benefit the independents.....and that is not what our city wants to do.

In the long run, they have to go through the motions of letting us operate, because they have to, but if you make it so hard to make a living, then how many will actually survive?

Is anyone out there listening?
