A limousine company owner and his friend are charged with trying to bribe Philadelphia police to get criminal and parking violations dropped.

Federal prosecutors say Millennium Limousine owner Bassam Salaheldein and friend Khaleel Eid also conspired to pay the officer for help getting a fraudulent gun permit.

The FBI affidavit says the police officer involved an undercover agent.

A federal magistrate on Friday ordered the two Philadelphia residents held pending a detention hearing Monday.

Defense lawyer R. Emmett Madden says Salaheldein will fight detention and the charges.

Eid told the judge he is from Palestine. He said he plans to hire a lawyer but has not yet done so
